The Gleeful Conspiracy is a Connecticut-based band that digs deep into a trick bag full of superheated guitar soul to raise earworms the size of mobile homes.

 The band was created in 2020 by lockdown-confined newlyweds Thom and Whitney Guthrie as a vocal/keys and bass duo. It was a start, but it needed ... something. The drum machine on the keyboard started demanding top billing, too.

​They quickly recruited drummer Mike Keyes, a fixture on the local scene. Then Fate high-fived them when Thom and Whitney ran into Jeff Carpenter and his son at a local guitar shop. 

​Jeff was just getting back into playing and making home recordings, but he was quickly persuaded to swerve into the glamorous rock and roll lifestyle the Guthries promised.

 After a string of amazingly well-received live performances, the band recorded their first EP, Manifestival, with Michael Arafeh, Middletown's Musical Ambassador, at the Coffeehouse Studio. It was released in Spring 2024, and a full-length follow-up is already in the works.

 The Conspiracy has one goal: they're here to glitterbomb your brain until you dance. Only the finest handcrafted grooves and lyrics go into every bite.
